THERE IS NO PLANET B
The paintings in “There Is No Planet B” were inspired by hearing this phrase in association with a campaign to prevent mining of National Parks land. Recently scientists have announced the discovery of potentially hundreds of planets that could possibly sustain human life. However at the same time we can see TV programmes showing just how synchronistic all the elements in this solar system are that allow human life to exist on Planet Earth and how difficult it would be to provide another home so perfect. The scientists’ discoveries produce an uneasy response considering how we have treated this home. To move to another planet is at present an impossible dream and even thinking it may one day be possible does not relieve the urgency of environmental issues here
